Spring has arrived and with it comes beautiful weather – perfect for renewing our spirits to care for the earth. And… with April – Earth Month is here!

“Creation Justice Ministries (formerly the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program) represents the creation care and environmental justice policies of major Christian denominations throughout the United States. We work in cooperation with 38 national faith bodies including Protestant denominations and Orthodox communions as well as regional faith groups, and congregants to protect and restore God’s Creation.” -John Hill Associate General Secretary of the UM General Board of Church and Society

John Hill represents our denomination and sits on their Board of Directors. You can learn more at https://www.creationjustice.org/.

Some action steps you may want to take this month:

Call your senator and ask for support to strengthen climate and conservation policy. Congress is long overdue to address – and pass! – legislation regarding the climate crisis. Visit https://creationjustice.salsalabs.org/moralclimateleadership/index.html to connect with your representatives.

Creation Justice Ministries is hosting an ecumenical service. Join Christians from various theological traditions and celebrate Earth Day on Friday, April 22, from 9:00-10:00 AM (Arizona and Pacific Time). To register, visit https://creationjustice.salsalabs.org/2022EcumenicalEarthDayService/index.html.

Ecumenical Advocacy Days is the annual gathering of Christian advocates and activists which includes worship, current issue discussion, and merging truth with power on Capitol Hill. This year’s them is “Fierce Urgency: Advancing Civil & Human Rights.” If you wish to take part in the “Eco-Justice” track which will have workshops on climate justice, ocean conservation, and faith advocacy from Monday, April 25 to Wednesday, April 27, register at https://www.accelevents.com/e/eadvirtual2022.
