I hope that you are getting used to saying United Women in Faith. It really is a wonderfully inclusive name. I was recently reading the events on the Charter for Racial Justice timeline. If you haven’t done that, you might want to do so. It stirred a great deal of pride in belonging to our organization.
We began all those years ago “on a dark and stormy night.” We have been called Woman’s Foreign Missionary Society, Woman’s Home Missionary Society, Woman’s Society of Christian Service, Woman’s Division, Ladies Aid Societies, United Methodist Women, and now United Women in Faith. It may take a little time to adjust but eventually we will say our new name as comfortably as those before.
We have not changed our name – we have taken a new name. I have compared it to taking a new name when I got married. My name was new, but I was still the same person I had always been. As United Women in Faith, our vision is unchanged; our core belief is unchanged. We have a new mission statement, but it does not replace our Purpose statement.
Be sure to explore the website, Uwfaith.org. Share it with others. Continue to tell your story.
We’ve never been this way before. Be unleashed by the spirit. See that God is doing a new thing.
Peace & Blessings,
