Appointment Announcements May 16, 2022

The Rev. Javier Olivares, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the West District, announced that Bishop Grant J. Hagiya intends to appoint the Rev. David Rennick to serve as Executive Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Phoenix, AZ, effective July 1, 2022. Rev. Rennick is currently serving at North Scottsdale UMC in Scottsdale, AZ.

 

 

Rev. Rennick will serve closely with Senior Pastor, Rev. Denny Silk, as a clergy team to fulfill the mission and ministry plan of the church and prepare for the future.

The Rev. N. Susan Brims, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the East District, announced that Bishop Grant J. Hagiya intends to appoint the Pastor Christopher Wurpts as pastor of North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, Scottsdale, AZ, effective July 1, 2022 per ¶ 326.2 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Pastor Wurpts is currently serving as the associate pastor at Paradise Valley UMC in Paradise Valley, AZ.

The Rev. Susan Brims, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the East District, announced that Bishop Grant J. Hagiya intends to appoint the Rev. Ann Lyter as senior pastor of Velda Rose UMC, Mesa, AZ, effective July 1, 2022. Rev. Lyter currently serves as pastor at Scottsdale UMC in Scottsdale, AZ.

 

 

The Rev. Dr. Larry R. Norris, current senior pastor, will return to inactive status, effective July 1, 2022

The Rev. N. Susan Brims, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the East District, announced she intends to assign Gary Gene Simons as lay person assigned, less than full-time, to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Globe, AZ, effective July 1, 2022, per ¶ 205.4 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline.

The Rev. Dan Morley, Missional Strategist and Superintendent of the North District, announced that Bishop Grant J. Hagiya intends to appoint the Rev. Sarah Moon as pastor of Hope UMC in Bullhead City, AZ, effective July 1, 2022, per ¶ 346.1 of the 2016 United Methodist Book of Discipline. Rev. Moon is an elder in the West Ohio Conference.

 

 

Lee, Pastor RobinPastor Robin Lee has been serving as the pastor since July 1, 2016, and will be taking a leave of absence.
