In sadness, we share the news that The Rev. Andrew Werft, died on Wednesday, July 27, 2022.
Rev. Werft was an ordained elder in the Desert Southwest Conference. He was born in 1958 in Tucson, AZ. He attended the University of Arizona and graduated with a degree in Speech Communications and Business. He attended Gordon-Conwell Seminary where he received his Master of Divinity. Rev. Werft began serving at Catalina UMC in Tucson as a part-time local pastor (1985) and added San Pedro Valley United Methodist Fellowship in 1986. He was admitted as a probationary elder in 1987 and admitted as an elder in full connection in 1989. He later served at Spirit of Hope UMC in Peoria (1992); CrossRoads UMC in Phoenix (1998); and Vista de la Montaña in Tucson in 2001.
Alongside being a pastor, Andy was also a professor at University of Phoenix. Andy enjoyed educating individuals about Christianity and expressing his love of God to anyone. He is survived by his wife Cindy and many children and grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 20, 2022.
A committal service will take place at 12:00 noon at East Lawn Palms, 5801 E Grant Road, Tucson, AZ 85712.
