Jeanne Festa recommended a series.

Possibly a series, “From the Front Lines” or featured “Church of the Month”

Jeanne Festa got an Email Candace  Desert Skies

What they had done

Ann Jarrel will submit what they did after it goes in their church newsletter. It will go other places. Also shared it with, the Jurisdictional Level – would like to share it more widely.

Jeanne Festa:

EarthKeepers Training, project was a to have a film series.

Film Series  Showed “Can we Cool the Planet”. Next, Polar Extremes.

All Nova films she ordered. 4th Friday Film. A sinking cities series (New York & Miami).

Years ago, before Covid, put up a water collection tank. Men were going to put up gutters. Close to the gutters, they were going to have a church community garden. Looking to restart the project.

Creation Justice Tips from the U.M. Creation Justice. Can be posted in the newsletter.

Ann Jarrell:

Zion Methodist Church in Las Vegas Valley.

Tore down their building, but still do things in the community, they have a community garden and an orchard. Right in the middle of a food desert. They feel this is part of what they are supposed to do.

Ann Jarrell, could she contact other churches in the northern district & ask if they have done anything re. the climate that they could contribute. Can someone in their congregation share what their congregation has done?

Jeanne Festa:

Something about Red Mountain?

Sierra Vista must recycle by subscription service.

She refers people to that service.

Wendy:

Resource for other churches

For instance, if the community does not recycle, we can refer to other options.

Jeanne Festa:

She thinks she saw that Tucson purchased a plant to make recycled plastic into bricks which can be used for building.

Find other happenings that help with the climate and put them on the website.

Spread the word what we can do about it. In some cases, recycling can reduce the cost to the church.

Kate sent the website for Global Ministries Creation Care Network.

Originally for those who did “Earthkeepers”.

Sometimes have events which are very helpful for our Churches. We need hints about how to talk to people re Climate without getting their backs up.

Katherine Hayhoe has much good information on this. Suggest use of her Global Weirding Podcasts.
