The video is also available on the Tuesday Talks playlist at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBEm-ehTDLo&list=PLOleI0f5bi1MAlz3C9HUPqBpk2AdUwawF.

The Desert Southwest Conference office of New & Vital announced two events

  2. Mountain Sky Conference is hosting the National Church Planter Gathering on April 24-26, 2023 in Denver, Colorado. UMCOM Announced

Free and downloadable worship resources for Advent through New Year. If you already have a plan for this year, consider using this for next year.

  1. Discipleship Ministries’ theme is God of the Dark and the Light. https://www.umcdiscipleship.org/worship-planning/god-of-the-dark-and-the-light
  2. Religion and Race’s theme is God’s Unimaginable Surprises. https://www.r2hub.org/library/advent-2022-gods-unimaginable-surprises

United Methodist Communications has created a presentation called We are the church. Together that will remind congregations of their identity as United Methodists while also inviting them to have constructive conversations about what they hope the future will bring, both for The United Methodist Church, and their congregation. https://www.resourceumc.org/en/content/we-are-the-church-together. Consider using Church and Society’s Faith & Facts cards available at https://www.umcjustice.org/news-and-stories/2022-faith-facts-cards-1540 in combination with the “We are the church. Together” presentation. Watch the recording for ideas on how and why to use them.

Jurisdictional and General Conference News

  1. We’ve elected three new Bishops during the 2022 Western Jurisdiction Conference! That story and more about all that happened during the 2022 WJ Conference is available at https://westernjurisdictionumc.org/. The Bishop that was assigned to the Desert Southwest Conference is Bishop Carlo A. Rapanut. If your church hasn’t shared any news from the Western Jurisdiction yet, share the story from the DSC Delegation at https://dscumc.org/blog/2022/11/09/dsc-delegation-concludes-historic-work-at-wjc/ and feel free to share photos from https://flickr.com/photos/wjcumc/albums. Watch today’s recording to hear details about who gets to vote, how many clergy vs laity were elected, and more.
  2. 2024 Western Jurisdictional Conference is hosted by the Greater Northwest Area – no specific location is announced yet, but the Jurisdictional Conference will be July 10-13, 2024.
  3. 2024 General Conference will take place at the World Wide Conference in Charlotte, North Carolina on April 23-May 3, 2024. https://dscumc.org/blog/2022/11/04/united-methodists-to-meet-in-charlotte-for-worldwide-conference/
