One of the greatest gifts I received this year was the gift of being able to travel to all of the churches in the East District, be welcomed and received with grace and love, and then to be invited into the celebrations and struggles of each of our churches. Thank you to all who took the time to include me in conversations, share in a meal or some cake, and allow me to listen and share in your exciting vision and dreams for the future of your churches and the UMC.
As we journey through the season of Advent, as we await again with fresh eyes the birth of the Christ child, may we use this season of preparing and waiting to allow ourselves to live out some of those hopes and dreams that were shared together in community. May we think of this as the time to try something new, to explore something different, to listen for where God is calling, and then put that call into action.
Thank you for allowing me to be on this journey with you. I look forward to walking with you through the challenges and celebrating with you in the moments where God is at work.
Happy Advent and Merry Christmas!
