UMVIM is the abbreviation for United Methodist Volunteers in Mission.

Mike Eyer, UMVIM Coordinator for the Desert Southwest Conference UMVIM, is planning to retire from that position in the next few months, and we are seeking recommendations to fill that position.  Click here to download a detailed job description for this role.

The Conference UMVIM Coordinator promotes safe, well-structured mission activities, including mission trips of all varieties – domestic and international, medical, construction, educational, mission support, and youth. The DSC Coordinator works in conjunction with other Annual Conference UMVIM Coordinators in the Western Jurisdiction and the WJ UMVIM Coordinator and serves on the WJ UMVIM Board of Directors. The Annual Conference Coordinator conducts Team Leader Training throughout the Conference, promoting Best Practices for mission trips, and serves as a resource to local mission leaders in planning and implementing excellent, safe, and rewarding trips.If you have mission-passionate people in your congregation or know of others in the Conference who you think would fit this role, please contact Billie Fidlin at bfidlin@dscumc.org. Billie K. Fidlin is the Director of Outreach & Justice for the Desert Southwest Conference. She is a graduate of Western Michigan University and attended Claremont School of Theology for religious studies. Ms. Fidlin currently serves as the President of the Arizona Faith Network in her second term. She is President & Founder of Whisper n Thunder Inc., and sits on various boards including the Justa Center. Her awards include the UM Foundation for Evangelism 2004 Distinguished Evangelist; 2016 Church Women United / United Nations Human Rights Award; 2018 Servant Leader Award AZ Faith Network; 2022 Southern Poverty Law Center Certificate of Recognition; and 2022-23 Class of Who's Who in America.
