The Desert Southwest Conference department of New & Vital Faith announces the start of a BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) Young Adult Internship Program.
The program is a two-year internship offered to 7-10 young adults of color in the Desert Southwest Conference. Diverse young adults (ages 18-28) will be matched with a church in their area with a shared need (community organizing, youth, music, social justice, spiritual entrepreneurship, etc.). They will embark on a two-year journey of part-time work combined with a vocational discernment cohort that meets in person once a year and online monthly.
How do I apply?
If you are a young adult applicant, fill out the application form linked below. The internships are paid positions funded by the Desert Southwest Conference New & Vital Faith ministries as well as the local church appointment.
How can my church be an internship?
For that reason, churches interested in receiving a BIPOC intern will need to apply both to select the area of ministry requiring an intern and so that the host church can complete an intercultural competence measurement on how to be more culturally aware and sensitive. One church representative can begin that process by filling out the application form linked below.
Applications will be accepted through February 1st, and placements will be announced in late March. A cohort will begin on July 1, 2023.
If you have questions as a potential intern or as a potential host church, please contact Rev. Rachel Gilmore at email@example.com.
