  • Devotion – Susan Bowers Gal 5:19-23 Diversity and Black History Month
  • Presentation from Elaine Moy, a staff person from GCORR – helpful information on statistics of diversity – Statistic Information was from 2020.  C&LLD has worked to diversify the committees. BIPoC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) 3:55pm.  Please see recording for additional information and to hear the full presentation.
  • Approval of minutes: No  Corrections or changes?  Approval by – Thumbs up.
  • Resignation of Paul Browning and Rev. Court Fisher – no longer on C&LLD
  • New Nominations review and vote – See files (will be loaded before the meeting) in Basecamp in folder Committee Detail – Committee Detail 2-8-23 and 2-8-23 Committee Changes – Erna Snukis – added to C&LLD using vetting form.  Vetting form needs to be updated to follow what is in CLLD files.  Questions?  No. Voting-thumbs up – approved. No opposed or abstaining.  Stacia Duncan – Health & Caring submitted by Billie Fidlin. Not vetted.  Voting – majority thumbs up. 
  • Vetting process needs to be sent out and members need to follow the process for new members on committees.                                           
  • Reviewed the files for the following:
    • Duplicate and expiring service updates (file in Basecamp)
    • Open positions file If you know of anyone interested in serving share with them the committee openings. 
  • Website update – https://dscumc.org/committee/clergy-lay-leadership-development/
    • At the bottom of every DSC newsletter now has a link “Find Your Leadership Position” that takes you to the Get Involved page of dscumc.org
    • Continued request that everyone to review and comment on what’s included and placement  Any improvements need to be sent to Judy.
  • (Still on hold for February’s meeting) ShelbyArena Database/platform in process & continued training (Shelby Arena document in Basecamp)
    • Everyone logged in?
    • Confirm your committee’s members with ShelbyArena
  • Team Assignment / Committee Review – See file (will be loaded before the meeting) in Basecamp – Team Assignments tab of the Committee Detail 2-8-23 file – assigned to Ken Zebal
    • Review of Liaison responsibilities -Check in with your committee quarterly for any needs.  Can be done by email.
  • Leadership Development discussion
    • Update from sub-committee – Jeannie Ward requesting that CLLD members attend the Leadership webinars.
    • Documents for review/comment/approval – please review files on Basecamp – Leadership Development prior to meeting
      • How to Hold a Meeting – pending review from Sylvia and/or Khalif
    • Leadership Presentations – Discussion was held on how to get new people involved in the District and the Conference committees. Wants and needs sent out to the churches.  West sends out the information.  Please see recording for full discussion.
    •  Bishop to be asked to do a talk if schedule permits. 
    • Next presentation is Feb. 13. by Rev. Dr. Kristin Hansen and March 13 will be by Cheri Hull.
  • Next meeting scheduled for April 5th at 3 pm

CLLD Purpose Statement

The CLLD has two main purposes:

  • Fostering DSC Leadership Practices
  • Developing Annual Conference Nominations
    • Continuously recruit to fill DSC committee openings
    • Discuss nominees within CLLD and committee chair
    • Vote on nominees
    • Present results at annual conference

With active support from the Bishop and cabinet the CLLD team develops a sound leadership culture for DSC clergy and lay leaders by offering a variety of leadership tools and resources.  Additionally, this team facilitates the DSC nominations process, end-to-end, which leads up to presenting nominations at the annual conference.
