Orientation to Ministry is a requirement for certified candidacy as set forth in ¶ 312 of the Book of Discipline. It includes information on the process of candidacy, ordination, grant and scholarship opportunities, and more. The program includes elder, deacon, local pastor, and certified lay ministries information. Several UMC Seminaries will discuss degrees, certification, and financial aid.
Participants will hear from the chair of the Board of Ordained Ministry, the BOOM registrar, and the chairs of the ministry orders. There will be an opportunity to walk through the two candidacy platforms: UMCARES and EM360. We will also have a time for questions.
