Where will this journey lead?

Where will this journey lead?

Last year at this time, I had no idea that in just a few months we would be in a pandemic that would change our lives significantly for the remainder of the year. Last January 1st, I had no idea that General Conference would be postponed and that important decisions regarding the future of our beloved church would be delayed. The twists and turns 2020 took were unprecedented and unimaginable just one short year ago.

Keeping Scripture Primary

Keeping Scripture Primary

I have to admit to you that the first time I tried to read the Bible myself, it wasn’t a very good experience. I was in college and in my late teens and by the time, I got to the Book of Leviticus, I closed it and said this is not for me. Now, if you look at one of my Bibles, you will see it highlighted and marked up with notes.

One in Christ

One in Christ

When the disciple Philip invited Nathanael to meet Jesus, his response was “Can anything from Nazareth be good?” (John 1: 46) When God sent Peter to meet Cornelius, the Italian soldier, God had to visit Peter with a vision and tell him three times to open his mind and heart to someone he considered an abomination, a non-Jewish person. (Acts 10:1-48) Prejudging people is not new.

Sabbath time

Sabbath time

From the very beginning of creation, God built in time to rest and renew. In the creation story in Genesis, God rested on the seventh day and blessed it as a day of rest. (Genesis 2:2-3) Later in the book of Exodus, God provided bread and meat for the people of God wandering in the desert and God made provisions to give them enough for 2 days on the sixth day so that they didn’t need to gather and cook on the day of rest. (Exodus 16:5)
