Lay Servant Ministries Training

Make a commitment to yourself and your ministry. Plan to attend an upcoming Lay Servant Ministries Training.  The purpose of Lay Servant Ministries is to enlist, train, guide and support lay servants as they equip and prepare others “for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”  (Ephesians 4:12)

South District Certified Lay Minister

South District Certified Lay Minister

Marlene McNeice, member of the UMC of Green Valley, is the first lay person in the South District to achieve the position of Certified Lay Minister. Having achieved Certified Lay Speaker a few years ago, Marlene decided to pursue Certified Lay Minister when she heard our Missional Strategist/District Superintendent, Mark Conrad, talk about the importance of Lay Servant Ministries and the new position of CLM during the Lay Servant Annual Celebration last Fall and by learning that there is no upper age limit for a CLM.

Have you heard the call from God to develop your teaching and leadership skills in your local church? Lay Servant Ministries courses may be a way for you to prepare yourself for the many missions and ministries that you may be called to, or improve your teaching and leadership skills, address your devotional life, help you discern your own spiritual gifts, or hone your Christian based skills to lead small groups?  In addition, certain Lay Servant Ministries courses can be used to provide the necessary requirements to qualify as a Certified Lay Speaker.
