Plan to attend an upcoming Lay Servant Ministries Training.  The purpose of Lay Servant Ministries is to enlist, train, guide and support lay servants as they equip and prepare others “for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ”  (Ephesians 4:12)

North District Lay Servant Academy Basic Course Cancelled

Due to lack of registrations, the host church and I have agreed we will cancel the Lay Academy Basic Course at St. Johns UMC in Kingman, AZ on Friday-Saturday, June 29-30. PLEASE NOTE:  THE ADVANCED COURSE WILL CONTINUE AS SCHEDULED.  

South District Certified Lay Minister

Marlene McNeice, member of the UMC of Green Valley, is the first lay person in the South District to achieve the position of Certified Lay Minister. Having achieved Certified Lay Speaker a few years ago, Marlene decided to pursue Certified Lay Minister when she heard our Missional Strategist/District Superintendent, Mark Conrad, talk about the importance of Lay Servant Ministries and the new position of CLM during the Lay Servant Annual Celebration last Fall and by learning that there is no upper age limit for a CLM.

Lay Servant Ministries Training – Tucson

Have you heard the call from God to develop your teaching and leadership skills in your local church? Lay Servant Ministries courses may be a way for you to prepare yourself for the many missions and ministries that you may be called to, or improve your teaching and leadership skills, address your devotional life, help you discern your own spiritual gifts, or hone your Christian based skills to lead small groups?  In addition, certain Lay Servant Ministries courses can be used to provide the necessary requirements to qualify as a Certified Lay Speaker.

Our goal is to equip lay servants to serve in the local church or charge in any way in which their witness or leadership and service will inspire all laity to a deeper commitment to Christ and more effective discipleship.
