How do we respond when we mess up? My Monday had a rough start. The weekend and previous week were non-stop with activity. This coincided with a head-cold reducing my energy and enthusiasm. I was grateful to see the new week arrive, and to experience a peaceful morning. I was starting several projects, including this article, when I couldn’t shake the nagging feeling I better look at my calendar.

It seems to me that God has a way of preparing us for our future. Often, in ways that are hardly noticed when they are happening. When I was pondering this article, I opened a fortune cookie. It said: “Luck happens when preparation meets opportunity”. How frequently do we attribute something to luck, when it really comes from God both preparing us, and giving us opportunities?

Who would have guessed that the hope of the world would come in the form of a little baby? While the world focused on building better weapons and stronger armies, Jesus grew up sharing the absolute power of God’s love. This is a gift that can be shared even if a person doesn’t have any money.
