Last year, Boulder City UMC sent a group of ten people to Baton Rouge, LA to participate in a rebuilding project that resulted from severe flooding in that area. That rebuild endeavor was a joint project of UMCOR and Habitat for Humanity. Like many churches in the Desert Southwest Conference, Boulder City UMC is campaigning within the church to continue supporting UMCOR by taking a special offering on March 11th.
Natural disasters may destroy homes, communities, and cities, but they do not destroy the love of God. A new video highlights the long‑term, vital work of hope and healing accomplished by UMCOR………
Churches from the Canyon, River, and Southern Nevada Clusters joined with North District United Methodist Women (UMW) in collecting hygiene kits, cleaning buckets and money to contribute to the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) October 14th during the North District UMW annual celebration held at Journey UMC.
“We heard testimonies of broken people who are already feeding hundreds in their communities. At times, it was honest and raw. At times it was healing and almost hopeful,” said Florida area Bishop Kenneth H. Carter Jr., who toured the state after Hurricane Irma.
On Saturday, October 14, 2017, 11:30 a.m – 12 Noon at Journey UMC, 6450 E. Stewart Ave., Las Vegas, NV 89110, North District churches, as well as the United Methodist Women units, can bring UMCOR/Relief-Supplies, specifically cleaning kits, hygiene kits and school kits for an UMCOR pick up. Please contact Eileen Guillermo at 702-807-3270 to indicate when you will deliver the kits and the amount your church will bring so that appropriate transport can be coordinated with UMCOR.
Although our inventory has increased, we are still in need of health and bedding kits. If you and your congregation are able to assist with this request, it would truly be a blessing.
