Youth from around our annual conference will be attending the quadrennial Youth 2023 gathering in Daytona Beach, Florida, in July 2023, and we are helping you and your churches coordinate attendance for this amazing event. Whether you have a full group going, or just youth or two, we can help!
Conferencing is a part of our United Methodist practice initiated by the Rev. John Wesley, founder of Methodism. It is a key element of the design for our connectional ministry. The Conferencing practice continued at the first gathering at St George's Church in...

Zion UMC has cleared away the burnt building and cleared a path to something new. As the church researches the community’s needs, they seek to hear from the people and foster new leaders as they discover what’s next in God’s plan.
Meet Paul Hewitt, the new North District Director of Lay Servant Ministries.

Even though we have just passed through the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, these can feel like dark times. Inflation in the cost of living from eggs to the fuel pump; mid-term political rivals painting one another as evil; the distress of the action of the SCOTUS on the retraction of Roe vs Wade; the roller-coaster of the Stock Market — each continues to cause us to spin and rock back on our heels.
Meet the new clergy in the North District.

Potosi Pines Camp continues on the move as the Great Connection reaching out to bring the mountain-top experience into the valley.
An anniversary is a great time to connect — as it brings out those who have been long-time active members, new people who seek to be a part of the community, and those who have not been seen in a long time, but still consider Hope UMC to be a part of their lives.
Every spring for more than 20 years Potosi Pines has welcomed a team of amazing volunteers from the Nomad ministry to help us keep the camp in top shape. There are few surfaces that have not been cleaned, painted, hammered, or re-imagined by the Nomads. With financial support from the Southern Nevada Foundation we have been able to fund many of the Nomad projects. These amazing volunteers spend 3 weeks in camp staying in their RV’s and help get us ready for the summer season.
I think of intriguing, ingenious, and innovative. I think of the dynamic duo of pastor and layperson — Rev. Judy Stallons and Phyllis Murray — in ministry together at Pahrump Valley UMC.
The United Methodist Foundation of Southern Nevada serves churches and connectional ministries in the Southwest Conference of The United Methodist Church. Click here for a brochure that gives an overview of the ministry of providing loans and grants across the North District.
Potosi Pines Camp partnered with Advent UMC to host a “pop-up camp day” at Advent UMC. Enjoy these photos from the day.
The Zion UMC Urban Farm and Community Garden Park continues to be a model of community partnering. Recent funding and work has again expanded the farm and garden. It has become a showcase in North Las Vegas and even Clark County and beyond.
When bad news comes in multiples, life feels and looks bleak and dark. The future and way ahead does not look promising but rather troubling, perplexing, and at its best, uncertain.
