Jill Cristina-Krebs is currently the Lay Leader at Dove of the Desert United Methodist Church. Born and raised in Northeast Ohio, Jill grew up in the United Methodist Church being baptized, confirmed and participating in youth group activities. As she has lived in different parts of the country, she always found a United Methodist Church to keep her grounded. In 2010, opportunities for family and a career in Arizona materialized. Then Jill, her husband David and their blended family came to Dove of the Desert in 2013 and became members in 2014. Jill found a renewed calling to pursue Basic Lay Servant Classes, to serve the church and to build relationships that encourage others in their faith walk. At Dove UMC, Jill has served as the Chairperson for Dove’s Board of Church and Society, Lay Member to Annual Conference, supports SPRC, Finance and Church Council meetings and participates monthly as Liturgist. In the past, she has coordinated volunteers and chaperoned Dove’s Youth and Halos Choir activities and mission trips. Jill has a heart for social justice issues.
Jill attended Kent State University and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech Pathology & Audiology and a Master of Education degree in Rehabilitation Counseling. Later while living and working in Florida she earned a Master of Science degree in Communication Science and Disorders from Florida State University and obtained her Certificate of Clinical Competence as a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP). Jill maintains her certification as a Rehabilitation Counselor and currently works as an SLP in the Arizona public school system providing speech and language therapy for students in Special Education.
