Mingus Mountain Sr High Ecology Camp-Cancelled
June 1, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - June 6, 2020 @ 11:00 am MST
|This session of camp has been cancelled. Please consider registering your camper for Senior High Classic Camp – June 29-July 4.
Have you ever wondered what really happens to our trash when it leaves our house, or where the water that goes down the drain goes? Have you ever wondered why certain plants/animals live in certain areas? Are you interested in our own changing world? During this fun-filled, adventurous, educational and inspirational week, we will look deeper at the relationships between creatures and their environment. This will lead us to looking at humans and our own relationships to our environment. We will look at the human impact on the world around us. We will also reflect on God’s presence in and through creation. Activities include hiking, hands on learning the names of creatures and plants around camp, possible field trips to Waste Management sites and water reclamation and treatment sites, as well as all of our classic camp experiences (archery, high and low ropes, worship, etc). We will apply what we learn to teach a group of Elementary campers later in the week.
You do not need prior experience or knowledge about ecology and we ask you to come with an open mind for conversation around the deep connections in the world around us.
This camp will be led by Rev. Misty Howick, who has a degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, experience at an Outdoor School teaching Ecology and Environmental Ed, and an MDiv.
Please let us know if there are concerns about physical ability so we can accommodate all who want to participate.
