Study Leader: Rev. Patti Blackwood, Minister of Congregational Care, Prescott UMC
Rev. Blackwood was raised in a small town in northeast Mississippi with two loving parents and three older brothers. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church and married into The United Methodist Church in 1970. She graduated in 1972 with a BS in Nursing and Certification as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, one of the first in the country.
She and her husband moved to Arizona in 1976 intending to stay for one year. They are still here. Blackwood worked for Maricopa County in the Heath Department or at Maricopa Medical Center for over twenty years. In 1999, the Blackwoods moved to Prescott where she worked two retail jobs until called to ministry. She graduated from Claremont School of Theology in 2010 and is an Ordained Deacon and serves Prescott UMC as Minister of Congregational Care and Grief Support.
Patti is a Certified Grief Counselor, works as a Chaplain at a local hospice, volunteers as a chaplain for Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott, and helps facilitate a bereavement support group for children and youth in Yavapai County.
As UMC clergy, She is a proud member of the Prescott United Methodist Women.
