Treasurer/Church Accountant – First UMC – Gilbert, AZ

Functions and Duties

Seeking a knowledgeable, enthusiastic, well organized accountant for a role encompassing a broad range of accounting functions for a vibrant church.   Does general ledger/journal entries, account reconciliation, monthly financial statement preparation and analysis, accounts payable, payroll and budget. Manages monthly cashflow.  Maintains complex records of multiple designated funds.  Works closely with the Finance Committee and Administrative Council and makes reports at those meetings.  Reports to the Senior Pastor and supervises the church Financial Secretary.

Qualifications

Accounting bachelor’s degree or 5 years of accounting experience desired.  Ability to use appropriate accounting and PC software, including Quickbooks,  ServantKeeper, Excel and Word.  Must communicate effectively with the pastors, staff and the congregation and maintain appropriate confidentiality.  Comfortable in working in a faith-based environment.
