Represent your church and district at Annual Conference
Ever wonder how your church got its pastor, or why it does things the way it does? Each year, every United Methodist Church sends a group of people to learn, discuss, and vote on how to best serve God and our communities as a church – this is called Annual Conference. In addition to each church sending a group, groups of churches in different areas (districts) send one youth delegate and one observer to participate in this decision-making process.
To be eligible you must:
- have finished 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade by June 13th of 2019
- fill out the interest form linked below
- be willing to participate in Annual Conference which will be June 13th-16th at the Mesa Convention Center
- have your parent’s/guardian’s permission to attend
- Apply by May 10th
Applications will be reviewed by a team and we hope to have delegates selected by May 15th.
What to expect
The youth delegates and observers stay at the conference hotel and attend all sessions and activities associated with Annual Conference. They are chaperoned by two adults, one male, and one female, who also stay at the hotel. The conference pays for one youth delegate from each district. Observers are paid for by their district, local church, and families (1/3 each). Other responsible youth can join the group, as long as they can find funding.
When will I know?
We are hoping to have decisions made by May 15th. Follow all our news about Annual Conference on our website at https://dscumc.org/annual-conference/
