Zion UMC – Fire Recovery

We are beginning to coordinate debris removal teams at Zion UMC in North Las Vegas (2108 Revere St, North Las Vegas, NV 89030). Volunteers will be needed starting Thursday, June 23 through at least July 21. Information on housing is available. Volunteers are needed for debris removal, along with breakfast and dinner cooks. Approximate hours will be 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, though worker schedules could be shortened if needed for personal or health reasons.

If interested and available, it is necessary to register. Please use the email ZionResurrection@dscumc.org to register with your name, contact information, and available dates. Due to city requirements, volunteers must be 18 or older.

There will be a short training to meet city safety requirements, which will be offered in the morning at the beginning of each work shift. We are looking for approximately 20-30 people per day on the property and everyone should be working in 30 minute cycles so we can keep people hydrated. There will be a person designated to monitor health and safety.

University UMC in Las Vegas (4412 S Maryland Pkwy, Las Vegas, NV 89119) has offered multiple rooms and six showers for anyone coming from other areas. University UMC is also providing breakfast and dinner for out-of-town volunteers. We may be requesting cooks to help prepare those meals at University UMC. Lunches will be provided daily onsite at Zion UMC and are being provided by the neighboring Culinary Academy of Las Vegas. If you have hard hats, eye protection, boots (no sneakers) and gloves, please bring them. More information will be provided to all who are interested.
